So, first things first.....

Choose Your Ideal Travel Dates

Now, that may sound like a given, but most couples don't consider how important that is when planning your honeymoon. Of course, a beautiful Christmas wedding would be drop dead gorgeous, but unless you have a pretty healthy budget, you might need to reconsider. Or, fall would be beautiful, but if you are planning a honeymoon that includes the Caribbean, keep in mind that even though you will get great pricing, it is the peak of hurricane season. (Don't let that scare you off though! They are rare and I have only had to move one couple because of an actual hurricane in the last 5 years. Just make sure to get some GOOD trip insurance. My preferred and personal trip insurance provider is Travel Insured. You can click the link to get your own quote.)

So, back to choosing a date. If you have already set the date and booked the venue, no worries! I am a Sandals Gold Level Elite advisor who has seen or stayed at all of the resorts and I also know how to stack all the available promos to get you the very best value available. I also work with some other amazing vendors who price out well.

Christmas and the week following is a great time to escape the cooler temps and you might not have to take much time off from work since many businesses will have extended days off. However, keep in mind, that traditionally this is the most expensive week to travel to a tropical location.

Insider tip: If you just insist on getting married during this time, I would recommend postponing the honeymoon for a later time to get the best bang for your buck. Once, I had a couple who got married in December. They postponed their honeymoon for a few months to take advantage of lower prices. They not only saved a little money for that romantic dinner, but ended up having the best sunset photo shoot because the beaches were less crowded. Lesson learned: Timing is everything!

January through April is considered to be "high season" in the Caribbean, and the pricing tends to be higher during these months. The weather, however will be great and most of the islands will be warm (some warmer than others). And, definitely a welcome change if you are cold natured and need that Vitamin D like me!

Insider tip: Each week, Sandals offers discounts on specific room categories at specific resorts. It's a great way to save a little money or even splurge a little more by taking advantage of these. PLUS, in addition, I know ALL THE WAYS to stack all the available promos for you!

May-June is actually a great time to go to the Caribbean. Many brands and suppliers, including Sandals will offer special rates during this time. It is also the beginning of "low season" which means that prices will start to come down just a bit from winter. The weather is warm and hurricane season (June-Nov) is just beginning. So, this is the ideal time to experience some amazing Caribbean sunsets!

Insider tip:  May is also usually "quieter" with less crowds up until the last week of the month. With fewer people it is also a great time to get some great photos shots without a lot of "background noise". The end of May gets "busy", so be sure and book ahead for the best availability and pricing.

July-mid December (excluding Thanksgiving and other "holidays") If you are on a strict budget, then this is really the time when you will be able to get the best bang for your buck. Prices usually start coming down in July and even more in the fall months. This is mainly because it is low season when the availability is plentiful and rooms need to be filled. It does tend to rain a little more, but usually your typical afternoon showers.

Insider tip: This is a great time to stack some of the promos I mentioned with some lower rates anyway! Hey! Maybe you could even get a Butler Suite! And, trip insurance is always recommended no matter what time of year you go. I just booked a WEDDING for early December and was able to get some great pricing for the guests and they are also eligible for a free room on top of that!

Bonus Insider tip: Choosing an island below the hurricane belt where they are less likely to occur during hurricane season is also a great option! Sandals Grenada is a great option for this time of year!
